Fractional CFO

Useful Beats Right

The best financial advice isn’t about being right. It’s about being useful.

Being right is telling a founder, “You’ll run out of money in six months.” Being useful is saying, “Here are three ways to extend runway past twelve months.”

People resist predictions. They act on options. Financial analysis without a recommendation is just expensive math.

Ask your CFO better questions

Most founders ask the same three things: What’s our burn? When do we run out of money? Can we afford this hire?

Those matter. The questions that move the business are different:

  • What would it take to reach profitability six months sooner?
  • Which metrics should I be watching that I’m not?
  • What story do we need to tell to raise the next round?
  • Where are we leaving money on the table?
  • What’s the biggest financial risk I’m not seeing?

The best founders don’t use their CFO to track money. They use them to make better decisions.
